In the past few years, the food industry is adding sugar to all kind of alimentary products in order to improve their taste, and therefore, to increase the desire of the customers to eat more!
It may surprise you, but in fact, all the “low-fat” dairy products actually HAVE added sugar. Just to compensate for the lost taste. But that is not all: all kinds of processed and semi-processed, canned and packaged foods have sugar in their ingredients lists.
Actually, very few people watch their daily sugar intake, search and choose “NO SUGAR ADDED” alternatives to regular products. The others neglect the “warnings” about the health-damaging properties of sugar.
But in this article, we are tackling exactly them!
Before we start, there is one specific thing that you should know: we talk about CANE SUGAR (and all of its types). It is the one that causes addiction to a certain level, and it is difficult for us to stop eating it.
First, let me remind you of the recommended daily sugar intake:
For males: 9 teaspoons (or 37.5 grams)
For females: 6 teaspoons (25 grams)
That does not sound like much, does it? Well, that is not the worst thing! The worst thing is that every food you consume has sugar content (even if it is minimal). Including vegetables! This way, the average person consumes the recommended daily sugar dose by only eating foods, which have no added sugar. And what about the whole chocolate that you ate for dessert? Well, this is the moment when the sugar becomes your enemy (even though in the moments of sadness you think it`s your best friend).
Sugar is a carbohydrate, thus, it has a lot of calories, to give energy to the human body. The body converts the sugar into glucose, which is released into the bloodstream. The tricky thing about glucose is that it boosts the energy suddenly, by increasing and then decreasing the blood sugar level quickly. From the bloodstream, the glucose goes in the liver. There it is being converted in fat and stored in your body. The glucose is stored only if there are excessive amounts of it (if you eat more than the recommended daily dosage).
Because of the sudden blood sugar rise, the pancreas produces significant amounts of insulin. In the long run, the pancreas may become less effective (due to overwork) and may eventually stop producing enough insulin. This will cause Diabetes type 2.
Eating too much sugar causes buildup in the arteries. This troubles the normal functions of the heart, and the risk of heart attacks and strokes increases.
The sugar in the bloodstream interacts with many biological compounds, but when it attaches to proteins, it creates molecules, which harm your skin: they make it more reactive, prone to free radical damage (pollution, stress, malnutrition, smoking), clogged pores, and aging.
It is scientifically proven that by diminishing or stopping the daily consumption of white sugar, people notice that the symptoms of the above-mentioned health issues lower to a minimum. But that is not all! Low sugar intake benefits also people with perfect health! They feel better and happier.
Try it for yourself!
